The School Nurse assists in
coordinating health services for exceptional students with emphasis on

consultation to school staff upon request. She also coordinates/trains s=
taff in
CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Medication Administration.<=

IMMUNIZATIONS
The
School Nurse reviews student immunization records and assists
parents/schools maintain compliance with North Carolina Immunization L=

G.S. 130A-152.
HEALTH REC=
ORDS
The
School Nurse assists the school in maintaining current health informat=
ion
for student cumulative records.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASE=
The
School Nurse provides information, counseling, screening, and referral=
to
prevent the spread of communicable diseases such as head lice, scabies,
ringworm, impetigo, and sexually transmitted diseases.
CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT
The
School Nurse assists students and families regarding school management=
of
chronic diseases such as diabetes, epilepsy, hypertension, allergies, =
asthma,
skin conditions, sickle cell, etc.&nb=
sp;
The School Nurse develops Emergency Action Plans for these stud=
ents
as needed.
HEALTH EDUCATION
The
School Nurse assists with planning and implementing health education i=
n the
classroom and provides
student/parent educational programs on request.
