Hi, my name is Cynthia A. Thompson-Schmidt. I began teaching in 1994. I am glad to be a part of the Jenkins family. I am looking forward to teaching 4th Grade again this year.
I began my teaching career with a bachelor’s degree in Speech/Theatre Education (K-12) from ASU, where I was a NC Teaching Fellows. In 2001, I obtained my National Board Certification in Early Childhood. In May 2007, I received my Elementary Education (K-5) Certification. I joined Jenkins as a 1st grade teacher in 2007 after teaching grades K-6th in Theatre Arts for 11 years. I taught 1st grade for two years. This is my second year teaching 4th grade at Jenkins.
My husband, Kurt, and I have been married since 2000. We have two great children. My stepson, Aaron, is in 11th grade at Hickory High. My daughter, Morgan, is almost four years old.
I look forward to working with the students and families at JES.
