Hickory Public Schools has adopted the Olweus Bully Prevention Program at each of our schools. Each school has a coodrinating committee to oversee the implementation process and evaluate the program. Olweus Bully Prevention Program is backed by thrity-five years of research and successful implementation throughout the world. The Olweus program is a long-term, system-wide program for changing school climate that involves four levels: school wide, classroom, individual and community.
The Olweus definition of bullying is:
"A person is bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more other persons, and he or she has difficulty defending himself or herself."
