New HPS Child

Nutrition Director

Hired

HICKORY… Kristen M. Bealler is the new Child Nutrition Director for Hickory Public Schools, effective immediately.

Bealler brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having most recently served as the Director of the Davidson County Schools Nutrition Program in Lexington, NC, since 2016. While with Davidson, Bealler was accountable for the operation of 36 cafeteria sites, monitoring the integrity of all financials while adhering to a budget of $7.8 million.

While serving Davidson County Schools, Bealler also established, implemented and evaluated new menu programs—ensuring quality standards, student acceptance and operational cohesion with district policies and procedures.

Prior to joining Davidson County Schools, Bealler’s extensive experience includes serving as the Director of the Stokes County School Nutrition Program in Danbury, NC; the Area Supervisor for Wake County Public Schools, in Raleigh, NC; the Field Supervisor for Cabarrus County Schools Child Nutrition Programs, in Concord, NC; and an Environmental Public Health Sanitarian for Saint Louis County in Missouri.

Bealler earned a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management, with a minor in Business from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She achieved certification as a School Nutrition Specialist with the School Nutrition Association (Level 3) and with ServSafe, as a Certified Instructor and Proctor. She possesses extensive skills in customer service, budgeting, team leadership, project planning, and event planning/catering.

Along with Bealler’s many achievements during her career, she carries the distinguished title as “President-Elect” for the School Nutrition Association of North Carolina, an organization that she has served since 2010.  Bealler will be installed as President during the 2020-2021 school year.

“Kristen Bealler brings a considerable level of experience to her new position with Hickory Public Schools,” said HPS Superintendent, Dr. Robbie Adell. “Ms. Bealler’s background in child nutrition while working with a broad range of school communities, as well as her time with public health—will certainly be beneficial to our school district. We are delighted to welcome Ms. Bealler to the HPS family.”

A native of Missouri, Bealler currently resides in Sherrills Ford. When not working and trying out new “mom & pop” restaurants during her travels, she enjoys water sports, painting, and following college football—especially her Alma Mater, the “Mizzou Tigers” — where she played women’s rugby for three years.  In addition, she helps to lead the Charlotte Mizzou Alumni Chapter. Bealler enjoys participating in cancer research events and above all else, during her free time, she relishes relaxing moments with her two rescue dogs, Linus and Lucy.

“I am thrilled to have joined Hickory Public Schools and I look forward to getting to know the employees—and the students!  I will communicate within the schools to discover the healthy and delicious items that appeal to the students, while monitoring and ensuring the implementation of federal regulations and purchase decisions,” said Bealler.
