TRANSPORTATION

●    HICKORY PUBLIC SCHOOLS is committed to providing safe and effective transportation services to all students eligible for those services.

●    All students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, and all teachers, staff and adult visitors must wear face coverings on a bus or other transportation vehicle, unless the person states and can provide that a medical exception applies.

●    Individuals must stay home and not board transportation if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone positive for COVID-19.

●    If a rider becomes sick during the day, they will not be allowed to access group transportation to return home.

●    If a driver becomes sick during the day, they must follow protocol and must not return to drive students.

●    Bus drivers will clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces prior to morning and afternoon routes - surfaces in the driver's cockpit, seats, door handles, seat belt buckles, light and air controls, doors and windows, and step rails.

●    Whenever and wherever practicable, doors and windows will be kept open when cleaning the vehicle and in between trips to allow the vehicles to thoroughly air out.

●    Whenever and wherever practicable, windows will be kept open while the vehicle is in motion to increase air circulation, if appropriate and safe.
