Hickory Public Schools was among 31 school districts in North Carolina to win Blue Ribbon Awards for Excellence in Communications, recognized as a school district practicing effective school communications and public relations. On behalf of HPS, Director of Communications, Beverly Snowden, accepted the 23 awards, with Hickory Public Schools ranking just behind Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for the number of awards, which represented communications projects from 2018.

But through the “1Million Project Foundation,” a program sponsored by the cellular phone company, Sprint, more than 40 students at HCAM now have reliable internet access at home.

NC Celebrates 100 Years of Safe School Bus

At Hickory Public Schools, according to HPS Transportation Coordinator, Renric Pope, the school buses, collectively, drive 1,554 miles each day. With 25 buses, 25 regular drivers and four substitute drivers, 1,770 students are transported to HPS each day. Safety first—as our children are precious cargo!
