The beautiful weather combined with entertainment offerings at Hickory Career & Arts Magnet High (HCAM) last Saturday brought out more than 300 attendees to the school’s first Spring Fling event.

The indoor technology and STEM booths challenged the minds of every age—while the outdoor activities provided physical challenges, including horseback riding and inflatable obstacle courses. The community event also included carnival games, a silent action, a firetruck from the Hickory Fire Department, a kids construction workshop, face painting and even a mini-concert by HCAM’s 2017 graduate and American Idol contestant, Johnny White.

“The overwhelming feedback from the community has certainly contributed to our HCAM team already planning for the 2019 Spring Fling,” said Principal, Rebecca Tuttle.

The school would like to thank all sponsors and volunteers for the event. Some of the sponsors include: Corning,  CVCC, Lenoir-Rhyne University football players, Flowers Bakery, Sam's Club,  PDQ,  AMC, Technibuilt, Living the Dream Farm, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hickory Dickory Dock, Hickory Crawdads, Momentum,  Cracker Barrel, Western Piedmont Symphony,  Home Depot, and Valley Rentals.

Hickory Career & Arts Magnet High School (HCAM), a non-traditional high school, offers different academies to students who represent every corner of Catawba County and beyond.
