“It’s a new beginning for everyone at Hickory Public Schools!

For our teachers, each day they step into the classroom, they have the chance to change the life of a student, helping to develop his or her self-worth and solid knowledge base while building the foundation for a bright future.

With the guidance from our faculty – combined with their patience and wise direction, our students have choices in their journeys, choices that bring opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.

I sincerely respect the dedication of our faculty and staff. Hours are long, pay is never enough; but yet, they continue to shape the lives of students who ultimately will make decisions for themselves, their families, their employers, and their communities.

As we open the doors to new beginnings for our district, we celebrate the additional support from the K-64 Learning Initiative. Every middle school student will receive a Chromebook this year which certainly takes our individualized instruction to a new level and direction.

Since I arrived at Hickory Public Schools in September, 2015, our faculty and staff have joined forces to elevate education and accountability. Together, we’ve tweaked instruction and made substantial changes that not only provide opportunities for enhanced development, but continue to place the students as our first priority.

The HPS team is working to make a difference every day in the life of a child. I am very proud of our students and staff—and I am honored to work with such an esteemed school district. There’s nothing worthy in this life without hard work; and the hard work exhibited by our staff and students at HPS -- is paying off.

Never underestimate the power of dreams. Welcome back to school—the HPS winning team!”
