I am thrilled about each student that is in my class. Every child brings a unique mixtur=
e of
abilities, perspectives, and ideas to the classroom. In reading, we are currently worki=
ng on
learning consonant digraphs, how to separate sounds, and how to blend sounds
together to become better readers.
In math, we are developing our counting skills. Counting by ones, fives, and tens =
is a
foundational skill that students need in order to develop higher order math
skills in later years.
Therefore, all students are receiving daily practice in one or more =
of
these areas. We are also lear=
ning
to recognize coins and their values, tell time to the hour/half =
hour,
and add/subtract numbers with pictures.&nb=
sp;
In writing, we are learning to add interesting details to our senten=
ces
and to capitalize the beginning and punctuate the ending of a sentence. In science, we are learning about
fossils and other interesting things found in the earth’s soil. In spelling, we are learning how t=
o spell
sight words that will enable students to become more fluent readers and
writers. Please encourage your
child to complete their homework each night. I am not only trying to teach stud=
ents
academic content, but also character.
