Description:  My language arts classes are second, third, fourth, sixth, and seventh periods.

2nd and 7th Periods

My students are currently reading ROLL OF THUNDER, HEAR MY CRY.  The novel is set during the Great Depression in rural Mississippi.  It is narrated by Cassie Logan, the main character.  We have been studying setting, characterization, main idea, foreshadowing, and inferences.

3rd, 4th, and 6th Periods

My students are currently reading THE GIVER by Lois Lowry.  This novel is science fiction and follows the life of Jonas as a seemingly "perfect"community.  We have been studying inferences, plot, setting, and theme.

In the next few weeks, all classes will begin a study on the Holocaust and will read "The Diary of Anne Frank" in the play version.
