 Class Description

English IV– IB

My name is Mr. Rice and I would like to welcome you to English IV– IB:  a course that covers British Literature, World Literature, Fundamental Grammar, Exceptional Writing, and Outstanding Oratory Skills!

Click on the + sign beside the  General English IV IB (Language A1) Info category on the right to find a specific description of this course's components and requirements.  Read this document carefully so you will be prepared for class.

I am excited about the upcoming semester and look forward to the classroom experience with you!

I am thrilled to be a part of the IB Team at HHS!  In 2005, we began training and creating courses for the application process.  I trained for and created the coursework for IB English Language A1 and Theory of Knowledge.  I was interviewed by the IB Organization visiting team for both courses.  After all the hard work, HHS was accepted into the IB program as an IB School!  We begin our first year with the program in the Fall of 2007.  I encourage freshmen who are ready for an academic challenge to speak with their counselors so that they may take courses in the 9th and 10th grade years that will prepare them for the IB program.

I use EDMODO both to distribute assignments, class materials, and communications from me and to receive work from students.  I will post syllabi and general information on this page, but for the most up-to-date information regarding this class, please click this link:

Please see me about getting access to your class's Edmodo page. You will need a group code which I will distribute on the first day of classes.

PARENTS, please email me for your student's group code so that you may stay in touch as well.

If you have any questions about the IB program (and specifically the English portion of the IB experience), you can always talk with me, Mrs. Moyer (our IB coordinator), or a counselor.
