A memorandum or (short) is a written communication between individuals within an organization. The top margin of a memo is inches with the left and right margin set to inch. The memo has four headings or guide words. The headings, in order, are TO, , DATE, and . The symbol ":" pronounced follows each guide word. In order to align the information in the headings, the typist must press the key once or twice. There is a space between the memo headings. The next section of the memo is the or message of the memo. The paragraphs in the memo are spaced with a space between the paragraphs. The paragraphs are not indented so they are called style paragraphs. At the end of the memo, initials are keyed to show that someone other than the author keyed the memo. These initials are keyed a space below the body of the memo. If the memo includes another document which is paper-clipped or stapled to the memo, then the word is keyed a double space below the initials. If another document is included with the memo, but not stapled or paper-clipped to the memo, then the word is keyed a double space below the initials. If another person receives a of the memo, the letter "c" followed by the person's name is typed at the bottom of the memo also.
