Dear Fifth Grade Parents and Students,        =             &nb= sp;            =                 =      August 16, 2011

 

   =          Welcome to fifth grade!!  I hope that = you have had a wonderful and restful summer and are as excited as I am about th= is new school year.  I am very th= ankful to have you in my class and look forward to working with you this year.  I am busy planning many new, chall= enging experiences that I feel will help you learn and grow academically as well as socially.

 &= nbsp;        I am so happy that you are goi= ng to be a part of “Team Stilwell”.  We will have a very interestin= g and exciting year in fifth grade.  Remember that the date for “Sneak Peak” is Wednesday, Au= gust 24th between 3:30 and 5:30 PM.  I look forward to seeing you at this time.&n= bsp; This year’s daily schedule will include math, reading, languag= e, science and social studies.  W= e will also have PE, music, art and computer lab weekly.  On our first day of school, Thursd= ay, August 25th, we will spend the day going over our daily schedule, doing “book walks” through our text books, evaluating your math and reading skills, and just getting acquainted with each other.  Enjoy the rest of your summer vaca= tion and I look forward to seeing you soon!

v 15- one subject spiral notebooks   Please make sure the paper is wide-ruled paper in these notebooks.  (All of these notebooks will not be needed to begin the year, but wi= ll be needed to replace used notebooks as the year goes on. 

v Number 2 pencils&= nbsp; (enough to last the year).  Mechanical pencils are optional.&nb= sp; If you use these, please make sure you have enough lead.<= /span>

v 2 Highlighters

v 4 packs of wide-ruled notebook paper

v 8 two-pocket, three-pronged portfolios (folders)

v 3 Book covers (Please use only cloth or paper.   NO STICK ON BOOK COVERS)<= /u>

v One pencil box or pouch

v One 8-pack box of crayons, colored pencils or mark= ers (optional)
