| FAFSA Day - Saturday, February 18, 2012 |
As we prepare for FAFSA Day on Saturday, February 18, 2012, we are pleased to announce this program will be offered in every North Carolina county again this year. Most locations will be open from 9 am until noon, but please check the Web site (CFNC.org/fafsaday) to confirm the program times in our area.
On FAFSA Day, financial aid officers and other trained professionals will help students and their families with the completion and submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The FAFSA is required to be considered for most state, federal and other college funding opportunities. This free service is sponsored by College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC), the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA) and the State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU).
Students may view the FAFSA Day locations and register for the program by visiting CFNC.org/fafsaday or by calling College Foundation of North Carolina, toll-free, at 866-866-CFNC (2362).
FAFSA Phone-In is another free service provided by CFNC to help students. Financial aid specialists will be available at the CFNC Call Center, 866-866-CFNC (2362) from 5-8 pm each Tuesday in February (Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28) to answer questions students or their families may have about the FAFSA. While FAFSA Day is designed to help participants complete the entire form, the FAFSA Phone-In service is offered to help individuals who are completing the FAFSA on their own and are seeking answers to a few of the questions asked on the FAFSA.

| Career and College Promise |
NC CAREER AND COLLEGE PROMISE (CCP)
(Available through Catawba Valley Community College – CVCC)
“Every student - no matter where he or she lives in NC - must graduate from high school with what it really takes to succeed in a career, in a two- or four-year college or in Technical training." - Gov. Bev Perdue
In today's global economy, successful careers could require a two-or four-year degree, a diploma or nationally recognized job credential.
Career & College Promise offers North Carolina high school students a clear path to success in college or in a career. The program is free to all students who maintain a “B” average and meet other eligibility requirements.
Career & College Promise is Gov. Bev Perdue's commitment to helping every qualified student gain access to an affordable college education. Through a partnership of the Department of Public Instruction, the N.C. Community College System, the University of North Carolina system and many independent colleges and universities, North Carolina is helping eligible high school students to begin earning college credit at a community college campus at no cost to them or their families.
Career & College Promise provides three pathways to help advance eligible students' post-high school success:
Earn tuition-free course credits toward a four-year degree through North Carolina's community colleges. (College Transfer Pathway) Earn tuition-free course credits at an NC Community College toward an entry-level job credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career. (Career Technical Education Pathway) Begin earning tuition-free college credits as a high-school freshman by attending a Cooperative Innovative High School. (Cooperative Innovative High School Pathway – Challenger High School or Hickory Career and Arts Magnet School – not available at HHS).
