• All current 6th or 7th grade students are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity to complete their required sports physical here at Northview.

• Participants must see Coach Mackie prior to May 22 to obtain a physical form and sign up for an appointment.  Appointments will be scheduled during the regular school day.

• Physicals will be conducted by Urgent Care of Mt. View

6th Grade Awards: 5/22, 9AM in the Auditorium (student dress code required)
7th Grade Awards: 5/22, 1PM in the Auditorium (student dress code required)
8th Grade Awards: 5/23, 8AM in Gym - Student processional 8:15 (dress code: bottoms fingertip length, shoulders covered, no flip flops)

1st Bell at 7:37 a.m.

Warning Bell at 7:43 a.m.

Start of 1st Period Bell at 7:45 a.m.

Dismissal Bell at 2:20 p.m.

 

Students tardy to school three times, during the nine week grading period, will receive After School Detention (ASD).

Northview will have need of anywhere from 10 to 40 proctors per testing days in May 2013, from approximately 7:45 to 11:00 a.m.  Contact Janine Mendenhall at (mendenhallja@hickoryschools.net) or call  (828) 327-6300 ext. 217 and leave a message if you will be available to help out.   

*Collared short sleeve or long sleeve knit shirts

with button-centered plackets

*Collared long sleeve, buttoned dress shirts

*Turtlenecks

*White and ALL SOLID colors

*ALL shirts must be tucked in

*Sweatshirts WITHOUT hoods may be worn,

but must be worn with a collared shirt underneath

*Pants, skirts, shorts, skorts, and capris are allowed

*NO cargo pants, jeans of leggings/jeggings of any color

*Must be knee length or longer and worn at the waist

with a belt that fits the waist

*Khaki, black, and navy

No bedroom shoes, flip flops, or athletic slides

 

School Improvement Team Minutes
September 11, 2012

1) Budget
* Approved materials request (unanimous approval -6 votes)

2) Discussion of Student of the Month Procedures
*Procedures/Guidelines will remain the same as last year.
*A form with guidelines will be given to grade level chairs.

3) School Improvement Plan Revisions
*Team members viewed draft copy and made small revisions
*Approved final draft

4) Student Discipline
*Ms. Ruff stressed that referrals should be used as a last resort. Teachers are expected to make parent contact prior to writing a referral.

5) PEP Discussion
*PEP’s are living documents. Teachers should inform parents at initial conferences that additional meetings will be needed to review success and make revisions to PEP throughout the year.

If your child currently has medication at school, you need to come by the school office and pick up the medication between 5/20 & 5/30.  Medication cannot be sent home with students.

The Northview Jazz Band earned Superior ratings from all judges at the Western Region Jazz MPA on Friday, April 26th.  The Hickory HS Jazz Band also earned straight Superior ratings.  Congratulations to all of the Jazz Band students &

David Wortman.

Any current 8th grader interested in participating in sports next year @ HHS can get a FREE physical on Tuesday, 5/14 at 4:30 at the HHS Athletic Complex.  You MUST pick up the physical form from the front office or from Coach Mackie.  The ONLY form that will be accepted is the form approved by the NCHSAA.  NO exceptions!  See Coach Mackie if you have questions.
