Welcome to Pat Bain
I just want to take the time to introduce a new face at Oakwood Elementary. Mrs. Pat Bain will be the new Assistant Principal. She will work part-time at Oakwood and part-time at Longview. I am very excited to have her at the school and I know that she will be a great addition!

1st-5th Grade Assignment Letters
Letters will be mailed on Monday, August 9th or Tuesday, August 10th. Each letter is stamped with a "Do Not Forward" label. If you have moved and have not notified the school, please let us know so that we can verify your address.

Kindergarten Assignment Letters
Kindergarten assignment letters were mailed on Friday, August 6th. This letter states the Staggered Start Day for your child. If you do not receive your letter by Tuesday, August 10th, please check with the school to make sure that you have registered.

Summer Office Hours
The school is open from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the summer. We will start back on a Monday through Friday schedule on August 16th. If you have moved into our district, please contact the school to register.

Kindergarten Supply List
• Glue sticks • Markers (washable) • Ziploc bags (no snack size please) • Kleenex tissue • Band-aids • Bottle of Hand Sanitizer • One towel / blanket for rest time

1st Grade Supply List
• 2 pocket folders • 1 spiral notebook • Glue sticks • Pencils and extra erasers that fit on pencils • Flat nylon pencil case with zipper or a plastic pencil box. • The school will provide scissors and an 8-pack of crayons • 2 boxes of tissues • All sizes of Ziploc bags • Hand sanitizer

2nd Grade Supply List
Items to be shared with the class; • Wide ruled notebook paper • Large package of pencils • 4 boxes of tissues • 1 box of eraser tops for pencils • Band-aids • Baggies (qt. or gallon size) (boys bring) • Hand sanitizer (pump bottle) • Dry erase markers • Baby wipes (girls bring) Individual items: • High-lighter markers – any color • Small zippered pouch to store crayons and pencils (no boxes please) • Two folders with inside pockets • Scissors • 6 Glue sticks • 16 pack of crayons • #2 pencils • pencil grippers

3rd Grade Supply List
• Zipper pencil pouch • 3 packs loose leaf notebook paper (wide ruled) • No. 2 pencils (Please do not bring mechanical pencils.) • Highlighters • 4 pack of skinny dry erase markers • 2 – 2 pocket folders • 1 inch 3 ring binder for planner and homework • Several red grading pens to grade papers in class • 2 Boxes of tissues for class to use • Band-aids • Clip board • Anti-bacterial HAND sanitizing wipes for class use (example: WET ONES)(not Clorox or Lysol) • Composition book (marble cover) for a journal

4th Grade Supply List
• 3-ring notebook • 1 package of 8 dividers for the notebook • Notebook paper • 24 No. 2 pencils • Box of tissue for classroom to share • Band-aids for classroom to share • Three spiral notebooks (70 – 100 pages) • Colored pencils or crayons and one highlighter

5th Grade Supply List

2010-2011 School Year
If you will be new to Oakwood for the 2010-2011 school year, please contact the office to let us know. We will be holding our Kindergarten Beginners Day on Tuesday, May 4th at 3:30 and want to make sure that we have you on our list. When you contact the school please have the following information: Your name, child's name, child's date of birth, grade child will be in (very important if your child is not entering kindergarten), and your address. We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you soon.

Items to bring when registering
1. A certified copy of the Birth Certificate 2. Immunization Records 3. Social Security Card 4. Two (2) documents proving your address (utility bills, signed lease/rent agreement, W-2 forms) 5. Health Assessment form filled out by doctor (for students entering Kindergarten)
