mission of Oakwood's media center is to support the educational
endeavors of all patrons by providing access to resources that
promote literacy,
enhance the curriculum, encourage personal interests, and foster
the joy of reading
and life-long learning.

What's
Going On In Library Classes?
This is the time of year
for the students in library information skills classes to
learn about the picture books and novels that are nominated
for the NC Children's Book Award. This is a
prestigious honor bestowed on a lucky author from each
category chosen by the school children in NC. Only
students can nominate books and only students can vote!
This year's list can be found on the following site:
http//www.ncslma.org; click on "book
competitions"; go to NCCBA.
Zane McPherson,
when a third grader, nominated Rhyming Dust Bunnies, a book
that was one of last year's nominees and received a great number
of votes from all over the state!
