Character Education at Viewmont

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) has been adopted as our school wide system of behavior management and character education.  The program shifts the focus of behavioral management from negative approaches to more positive ones.  By using a variety of tools and procedures, we attempt to find reason behind disruptive behavior and then find positive solutions.  This is done school wide through teaching clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and clear consequences.

Each teacher has been provided with a matrix that clearly defines expectations for student behavior in all areas at Viewmont Elementary School.  “Paw Power” tickets for following the school’s behavior expectations will be earned by students as we continue to focus on respect, responsibility, safety and kindness.  Tickets will be used for a variety of chances at special rewards.
