CONGRATULATIONS,
VIEWMONT!
Fire and Safety Quiz Bowl Champions!
Congratulations to six of our Viewmont 5th graders from Mrs. Wade's
classroom who won
FIRST PLACE in the 4th Annual Catawba County Fire and Safety Quiz
Bowl. Students from eleven schools in the Catawba County area
participated in the event which was held on March 11th, 2010 at Tri-City
Christian School. The Bowl was sponsored by the Catawba County Fire
and Safety Committee which includes members from local fire departments and
schools. Students have been studying fire and safety material, provided by
the committee, for the last two months. During the quiz bowl, each
match consisted of three rounds and students were quizzed individually as
well as by teams. Our Viewmont 5th graders received a large trophy for the
school, a trophy bowl for the year, individual t-shirts, and medals as well
as $500. The state level competition was held in Iredell County on
April 27th and our students competed for the state title.
We are so proud of the following students who participated in this event: Baylor Pait, Jahiro
Villa-Ramirez, Kaitlin Disharoon, Jacob Lasecki, Jackson Webber and Kaleb
Hewitt.

Viewmont Elementary
was named a Banner School in the North Carolina
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Initiative Annual Recognition in 2008.
Due to our PBIS team's
successful completion of extensive training modules, our school's PBIS evaluation results, and
the documentation of how Viewmont implements research-based practices and develops
supportive systems to teach all students new behaviors,
we were further awarded PBIS Exemplar Recognition
for the 2008-2009 school year. Viewmont
has received two banners to announce our success that will be displayed in our
school.
