Members of the Hickory Board of Education were sworn into office during the December meeting held in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Sallie Johnson was sworn into office by the honorable Judge Burford A. Cherry and will serve as the representative of Ward 2, replacing Sarah Talbert. Re-elected Board members Angela Beaver Simmons, Reginald Hamilton, and Gloria Hemphill also took the oath of office administered by Judge Cherry.
The Board unanimously elected Joab Cotton to serve as Board Chair and Gloria Hemphill to serve as Vice Chair.
