HHS Hosts 2019 National Honor Society Induction
Hickory High recently hosted the annual induction for the National Honor Society (NHS) for 45 new student members.
Embracing the four pillars of the National Honor Society -- character, scholarship, leadership, and service, the program opened with music performed by the NHS Orchestra including Macie Benge, Kathryn Kanipe, Lauren Lyerly, and Makenna Viera-Lewis.
Drew Daniels, history teacher and interim NHS advisor, provided the welcome and introductions with NHS officers Sydney Hall, president, Dylan Morrison, co-vice president, Emily Snyder, co-vice president, and Stella Cooper, secretary/historian, leading the address, the inductee pledge, and lighting the candles to represent the four pillars.
HPS leadership joining the ceremony included Superintendent, Dr. Robbie Adell, Board of Education member, Amy Monroe, and HHS Principal, Katherine Morningstar.
Student-volunteers who assisted with the program and refreshments included: Emilia Ashley, Macie Benge, Bugs Cekada, Katie Crenshaw, Leah Eimer, Grecia Hernandez, Hayden Huffman, Mac Johnson, Emily McMurry, Caroline Moore, Israel Negrete, Maria Paniagua, Riya Patel, Fernando Perez, Madeline Pitts, Kristin Reynolds, Emma Salyards, and Colby Shepler.
