Clear Bag Procedures for 2023 - 2024 School Year
Hickory Public Schools is continuing the clear bag procedure for all high school sporting events and major school events for the 2023-2024 school year.
Clear Bag Procedures Frequently Asked Questions:
- How many bags can each person bring to the event? One bag will be allowed for each individual.
- Can attendees carry cameras, binoculars, smart phones, or tablets separately from the clear bag? Yes, these items can be carried into the event as long as they are not in their own bag.
- Are seat cushions or camp/folding chairs allowed to be carried into the event? Yes, but they are subject to search. They should not be in a bag or other container.
- Are blankets allowed during the cold weather? Yes, but they will be subject to search.
- What happens if I show up at the event with a bag that is not permitted? You will be directed to return the item to your car.
- If I have certain items that I need due to medical reasons and they won’t fit in a clear bag, can I bring those to the event? An exception will be made for medically necessary items.
- Are all purses prohibited? Only clear bags will be allowed into the event.
- What will happen if a prohibited item is found during a bag search? Law enforcement officials will be on site and assist in handling such violations.
- Who do I ask for additional information? Please contact your child’s school for additional information.
- What schools are included in the clear bag procedures? Currently the procedures apply to high school events. If the need is determined, HPS may add the procedures to additional schools levels or events.
